MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Feb. 22, 2017 – REV Group, a $2+ billion manufacturer of industryleading
motor vehicle brands, and Ferno, the global leader in emergency pre-hospital patient handling
equipment, are announcing the launch of a groundbreaking and innovative patient and crew-centric
ambulance design. This design will allow EMS providers to experience improved patient & medic
safety, operational flexibility, and system efficiency.
"This design marks the first significant change in ambulance interiors in over 50 years," said Bob
Collins, President, REV Ambulance Group. "The design will be a vital component in the enhanced
safety measures being put in place inside ambulances."
REV brands AEV, McCoy Miller, and Wheeled Coach will offer models with a completely
integrated Ferno iN∫TRAXX™ system comprised of a series of tracks, quick release mounts, and
storage solutions that are compliant with new Federal ambulance standards required by SAE,
NHTSA, NFPA, and CAAS. This system reduces the risk of death and injury by keeping equipment
such as oxygen cylinders, monitors, defibrillators, and supply bags secured to the walls of an
ambulance during 26g impacts. With vital tools within reach, medics can deliver patient care from a
seated and restrained position.
The modular nature of the system allows for greater operational flexibility, providing caregivers with
ambulance configurations tailored to their needs and repurposed for specific tasks quickly and
efficiently. Additionally, the system will improve turnaround times for restocking, reducing
inventory and overall vehicle weight as well.
"We are pleased to partner with REV Group on this initiative, which will keep caregivers safer,
enhance patient care and assist in inventory control and drive operational efficiencies," said Joe
Bourgraf, President, Ferno. "Ferno has invested a great deal in this project, showing our
commitment, along with REV Group, to providing high-quality and safe emergency vehicles."
This forward-thinking design merges REV's expertise in manufacturing the safest, most durable
ambulances on the market with Ferno's innovation and drive in transforming emergency care. Both
companies have an unwavering focus on the patient and medic experience, safety, and providing
long-term value to EMS providers.
The new ambulance design will be nationally available exclusively with REV under its industry
leading AEV, McCoy Miller and Wheeled Coach ambulance brands. REV's brands are backed by
their world class dealer network upon which customers have grown to rely.
